hi guys!

I'm back from vacation, Germany was this year's destination.
We (me and the boyfriend) had some unfortunate uhm problems on our roadtrip.
On the second day we had to find a hospital (or krankenhaus) because my boyfriend bumped his head on a medieval stone in a wall around the town of Rothenburg ob den Taub. He had slightly concussed his own head. But after a quick check up and a few hours of rest in the hospital he could leave. We stayed an extra day.
After this we followed the Romantische Strasse to Augsburg (towards the south of Germany) Sadly enough we didn't plan a good hotel and the "umweltplakette" up front and ended up in a VERY bad Etap hotel. Because of the petroleum fumes we didn't catch a very good night sleep and left very early in the morning to our next destination, Neuschwanstein.
Yay! The mythical castle that inspired the disney castle. It exceeded my every expectation and was really worth the visit. Afterwards we noticed that this medieval looking castle was actually build in the same time period as Art Nouveau! This was the reason the castle was so pretty, instead of the damp and gloomy classic medieval castles! Sadly the outside of the castle was being renovated and couldn't make a nice picture of it.
The second day in Neuschwanstein we went for a cartrip adventure. My boyfriend really wanted to venture the Stelvio Pass after seeing the episode of Top Gear. Sadly, we don't have a super car nor a racing car but a very cute little citroen car with only 60 horse power. This is the sort of car that barely gets up the hill in second gear. But, the long (and a bit dangerous) trip was worth it, the sight on the top of the stelvio pass was amazing!
The next day we left for Stuttgart but held a quick stop in Munchen. Yet again the "umweltplakette" was being a problem, luckily we weren't there for the centre of muchen (which you can't enter without the sticker) but for the BMW museum located just outside its centre. The museum was okay, so was the coffee and cake in the museums' cafe. although they weren't THAT friendly either. Then it was onwarts to Stuttgart!
There we had yet again problems with the "umweltplakette" Because we didn't really know how to get there and it was all regulated in a really German way, we got, yet again, a hotel at the border of this zone. The hotel was terrible, although it was praised in the michelin guide it was clearly in a state of decay. Very old enterior, smoking inside the building and the fact the proprietor couldn't maintain the building anymore. This was still "okay" to stay and leave the next day BUT, the worst was the Frustuck (breakfast)...
In Germany you get a lot with your breakfast, really nice actually but here there where multiple problems:
- bad coffee,
- some of the prepackaged bread and biscuits where already over their freshness dates.
- I found an opened container of cheese in the pile of of prepackaged butter and cheese
- the meat on the platter with assorted bread toppings was already turning a darker color...
- And the worst: I found an ANT in my sandwich. It was a white sandwich and it had something with 6 paws baked into it. The woman at the desk (who looked like she just wanted money and not a good experience for their guests) denied it and came up to the table forcing me to take another sandwich. ugh.
The next morning we bought the "umweltplakette" and drove happily around the giant umweltzone in Stuttgart. The porche museum and the Mercedes Museum where on the menu today. The porche museum was okay and of small/medium size. The Mercedes museum is a must! Even for non-car enthousiasts, it has 8 floors, you go up the highest floor with a very fancy elevator and spiral down through the museum. The free audio guide is really encouraged as lots of the videos in the museum can only be heard through the guide.
The second hotel was, okay, except for yelling at some germans at 2 a.m. to shut their drunk sses because we had 600 km to drive home the next day.
And then we where back in Brussels, Laundry time :)

And now getting my butt back into crafting mode.

free stuff, from me! Check it out.
